Aaarrrppp is a work-in-progress browser-based instrument that translates images into music. The app analyzes color, brightness, and saturation to derive key, tempo, timbre, and melody while the image is transformed into a Gerhard Richter-style strip animation. Music compositions begin as sparse and meditative arpeggiated arrangements and over time build through density and counterpoint.
