2017–2020
Most of my work is for technology companies, whose language runs toward aspiration, simplicity, and slickness. It is rewarding work, but a narrow range. I wanted to see if I could produce images that could hold wistfulness and ambiguity, the sorts of feelings that don’t make their way into the usual brief. I went looking through old photographs in the public archives of museums and cultural institutions to see what I could find, and those discoveries became the collages you see here.
